“Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.” — Proverbs 31:10 NKJV
The Proverbial ‘Perfect’ woman is found in the book of Provers 31:10-31. That book describes a woman who puts her entire household first. She wakes up early, cooks, cleans, invests, operates a business, shares with her neighbors, don’t take naps, and then goes to bed late…
From that description, you may wonder if she ever finds time for herself. I would imagine a tired looking woman who is ragged and neglected. Contrary to that, she is adorned in the finest garments that she handmade. She even works out and has strong arms.
She is rewarded for her loyalty. According to the scripture, her husband is well known. He trusts her fully to have his back. He doesn’t have to worry about her turning against him. Even their children looks at her and calls her blessed. A women of such caliber can be intimidating to a women who struggles with self esteem or is a babe in Christ (I Corinthians 3:1).
I have had the privilege of being connected to several women who possesses many of the attributes of a Proverbs 31 woman. One in particular, happens to be my aunt whom I admire from afar. Yes afar; although she is very approachable, I am an introvert who tends to sit back and observe while supporting from the sideline.
She is a phenomenal woman who wears many hats. She is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, co-founder of our church, Elect Lady, our district’s Supervisor of Women… I watch her week after week as she lead us in Sunday School and other events as her schedule permits.
She works tirelessly alongside her husband (Superintendent and Sr. Pastor), son (Pastor), daughter (District Missionary) and a host of ministers, deacons, and missionaries. She leads with grace as she watches over and cares for the flock under her leadership. Although I know better, she makes it look effortless. When I look at her, I consider her blessed.
